Barenbrug Holland helped ‘Educatieve Natuurtuin Goffert’ in Nijmegen
A helping hand for an Educational Nature Garden
The 40-year-old Educational nature garden consists of 10 mini landscapes that can be found in the Nijmegen area. About 3000 students yearly visit the garden every year with their schools, for outdoor nature education. The garden is also open to public, a beautiful peaceful green piece of nature in the middle of the city. The foundation fully relies entirely on volunteers, with the exception of one paid employee who develops the educational material.
The project
A group of 11 Barenbrug employees helped with maintenance for a day. Three composting area were created, which will also be used for teaching.
In addition, the paths between the fields were made more accessible and some of them have been paved. Some extra slots were created for the 2 year perennials plants which also be added as a new topic.
It was a beautiful warm and hot day and the Foundation was pleased with the amount of work that was done! Our team consisted of people from different departments who together made it a very pleasant, sweaty day 😊. With tired muscles and red sunny faces, everyone looked at the end result with satisfaction.
